Our client, a Private school and Nursery, is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Nursery Deputy Manager to support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day leadership and operation of the nursery. This role includes deputising in the Nursery Manager’s absence, leading curriculum delivery, acting as SENCO, and supporting safeguarding responsibilities to ensure a safe, stimulating, and high-quality early years environment
Responsibilities
- Deputise for the Nursery Manager and lead nursery operations when required.
- Support leadership of the EYFS curriculum and ensure consistent quality across all rooms.
- Act as the nursery SENCO and liaise with external professionals and agencies.
- Support safeguarding responsibilities as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
- Ensure compliance with EYFS, Ofsted, and statutory requirements.
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers to support children’s development.
- Support staff with observations, assessments, and progress tracking.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records for all children.
- Promote a safe, clean, and stimulating learning environment.
- Support staff development, training, and performance.
Qualifications
- Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent) – essential.
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS statutory framework and wider early years practice.
- Experience supporting or leading staff within an early years setting.
- Ability to use basic IT systems and digital record-keeping tools
- Full DBS
Contract
Location: Horsham, West Sussex – UK
Salary: Competitive salary of £27,000 – £36,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

Training and Compliance
- Paediatric First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
- Safeguarding and child protection training.
- Willingness to attend ongoing CPD, staff meetings, and INSET days.
